YPL Regional Workshop: Embracing Equity, Inclusion, and Human Rights

The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with Cultural Vistas, is pleased to announce that the application for the 2023 Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Embracing Equity, Inclusion, and Human Rights Regional Workshop is now open.

The workshop will bring together emerging leaders from throughout the Pacific Islands, Australia, and New Zealand to identify salient topics across the region related to equity, inclusion, and human rights and the ways to work together across the region to develop tangible solutions. The program will consist of pre-workshop and post-workshop virtual activities for preparation and reflection and an in-person workshop to be held in Apia, Samoa, over the dates of October 4-6, 2023.

The YPL Embracing Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights Workshop includes:

Pre-Workshop Virtual Activities (4 - 18 September 2023)
YPL Embracing Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights Workshop in Apia, Samoa (4 - 6 October 2023, not inclusive of travel days)
Post-Workshop Follow-on Activities (November 2023)
Post-Workshop Virtual Gathering (30 November 2023 NZT)
Please note those selected to participate will need to attend all phases of the program as outlined. Travel to and from the YPL Workshop will occur in the days before 4 October and after 6 October 2023.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be eligible for the program:
Applicants must be between 25-35 years old at the time of the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Embracing Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights Workshop.
Applicants must be a citizen and current resident of one of the YPL countries: Australia, the Cook Islands, Fiji, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Islands of French Polynesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, and the American-affiliated Pacific including American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Hawai'i. If your country of citizenship and current country of residency is NOT listed, you are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must be fluent in English. The YPL Embracing Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights Workshop will be held entirely in English.
Applicants must have a minimum of two years of work experience.
Applicants must meet all COVID-19 requirements and agree to the COVID-19 Terms & Conditions outlined in this application, and be able to travel to Apia, Samoa, as well as participate in the YPL Embracing Equity & Inclusion & Human Rights Workshop in its entirety.
