A Civil Society Organization, Polling Unit Ambassador of Nigeria, PUAN, has vowed to police all polling units across the federation to expose perpetrators of vote trading for arrest and prosecution.

PUAN at a news briefing in Abuja said they would commenced a nationwide sensitization for the citizens to key into ending the menace of vote trading in Nigeria.

Ahead of the 2023 general election, a civil society organisation, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflicts Resolution (CHRCR) has urged the critical stakeholders to help fight corruption of any form during the electioneering period.

The Executive Director, CHRCR, Mr.  Idris Miliki Abdul, disclosed this while speaking at a one-day workshop organised for CSOs Partners Review and Strategy meeting prioritising anti-corruption and accountability issues towards the 2023 elections in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Despite efforts by the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL), education outcomes for many children have been low. While enrolment rates have increased[1] with the introduction of Free Quality School Education (FQSE) in 2018, literacy and numeracy outcomes have only marginally improved for many reasons. A recent survey[2] by the Ministry of Basic, and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) for instance found that up to 66% of children in grade 4 cannot read a single word. An international organization, Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, wants the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure adequate training and security for its officers ahead of next year’s election.

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Ghana face the threat of terrorism funding and money-laundering as a result of a decline in donor funding post COVID-19 period coupled with a weak national economy.

Such decline, according to the 2021 Sustainability Index(CSOSI) Report which was launched yesterday in Accra was weakening the financial base of CSOs in the country.
